At
left, Nora Warshaw and Frank Deuber when Nora was 'about 15',
so the photo probably dates to 1918. They met, according to
Nora (my mother) when he was a streetcar conductor and she
was, evidently, a regular streetcar rider. (NOTE:
the problem with this theory is that an article (see page 4)
states that
Frank & Nora didn't meet until 1921!)
Frank joined the Marines when he was 16 (or said he was) and
went to China. He appears to be in uniform here, so might have
been home on leave before shipping out to China. Frank sent
home lots of pictures, a few of which you'll see here. They
were married in March, 1923.
There is a large-ish section below devoted to Frank and his
family. The 'them' photos continue after the 'him' content.

George Ludwig Dauber (at left) was Frank's
biological father, and the person for whom my sister,
Georgette, was named. She went by Bebe, her middle name,
all her life.
Arden Hurlburt, at right, was Frank's step-father, our
'Granddad Ard'.
George was out of their lives long before I was born,
but I do remember Ard. On the photo of the family (below)
there is a note on the back, evidently written by Frank,
that refers to Ard as "Father," so I suspect
that he was fairly young when Ard came into his life.

Since we have now entered the age of the
snapshot, there are tons of pictures, but very few with
notes about who exactly they are snapshots of!
This photo shows my dad, Frank Deuber, on the right,
with his mother, Jennie Lowrie Hurlburt, and (I believe)
Granddad Ard on the left. My sister Bebe is seated in
front. The photographer - probably my mom. Judging by
Bebe's age, the picture was probably taken in the mid
to late 1930s.
