MAPS - Ukraine, Kiev & Obukhov Locations

The location (to the best of my current knowledge) of Labe Ostrovsky's place of death. Since he evidently died in Russia, I assume that Rachel Leah and their seven children emigrated to the U.S. sometime after Labe's death.

In case you're not up on your geography, the map on the left shows you where Ukraine is located.

I included the Kiev area (spelled KYYIV on the map below) because at least one pre-emigration photo of two of the children was taken by a Kiev photographer. The family may have lived there, or they may have been traveling through Kiev on their way to...? the U.S.? Or... the Kiev photographer may have been traveling through the Ukraine - not uncommon in the early days of photography. I simply don't know.

The last map shows where Obukhov is in relation to Kiev. My mother once told me that the family was in 'transportation' - which meant that Labe and/or his family had one or more wagons or carriages and ran the 19th century equivalent of a taxi service or bus line. That might have given them more mobility than the average 19th century Russian peasant had. This is, of course, all speculation on my part. If anyone knows a good psychic...
