Sunny's Week 1 Digital Photography Assignment. Sunny's Week 2 Digital Photography Assignment. Sunny's Digital Photography Home Page.

All photos have been resized and optimized. Otherwise, no corrections were made, though a couple of the park pics could use some cropping and Shadow/Highlight tweaking - it was an intensely bright and hot day.

Three of the pictures were taken outside of my office on Sunday, September 12 (yes, I went in to work on a Sunday - against my better judgement).

Left: Taken on Labor Day week at a local park - Creekside Park in Gahanna, Ohio. I hadn't been there before and was very happy to 'discover' it.

The variety of the vistas was quite amazing. Some of my favorites really need to be adjusted: in places, the trail went through woods so thick that the photos are a little dark. I didn't take my tripod with me, so I didn't want to increase the exposure time. They'll need to be lightened. I picked a couple that are okay on exposure.

I like the perspective and the clump of green stuff in the foreground that contrasts in size with the narrowing stream, and in color with the trees. I also like the reflections and the vividness of the color in the trees - which was just as bright in person!

The photo on the right was also taken at Creekside Park, a little farther down the trail. I like the curve of the stream, the trees in the foreground, and the grassy bank on the left that defines the shape and path of the stream.

This photo was taken outside of the office where I work. I've never gone in on a Sunday before; the parking lots and spaces in front are always filled and there are people coming and going.

The parking spaces were just repainted and I like the perspective, the curves, the symmetry. There is a second building behind where I shot from. When you look at them together, it's like a mirror image. The buildings are set on a modest curve, the sidewalk curves, the signs in front of the parking spaces make another curved line, as do the concrete bumpers in front of the handicapped parking spaces with their curved lines of markings.

It probably should be cropped to get rid of the extraneous sidewalk at the bottom. I tried zooming in for a tighter shot, but lost some of the white parking lot markings.

I cheated a bit - 5 pics instead of 4. The two below are both of the same subject, but from different perspectives. There's a Hilton Hotel on the opposite corner across the street. Both photos are of reflections of the tower on top of it. One (on the right) is, I think, framed slightly better than the other, but I like the reflection in the left photo better, though the tree got in the way of a really good shot.

I was also tempted to straighten them, but decided that if one is taking weird photos, perpendicular walls are not too critical. Also... I kinda' like the effect.

What do I like about these? The strange reflections that I love to look at and that nobody else ever notices! Right before your eyes!
